Topamax

Topamax (topiramat) is a commonly prescribed seizure medication specially designed for the treatment of seizures. It can be used for both adults and children starting from the age of 2. Such health conditions as asthma, kidney disease, a history of kidney stones, bronchitis, liver disease, glaucoma, emphysema, and a recent history of a surgery need to be reported to your doctor in advance for your dose to be most efficient. Some drugs you are taking or are planning to take may also affect the dose you are prescribed. Therefore, you will need to tell your doctor about such medicines as atropine, bronchodilators, irritable bowel medications, bladder or urinary medications, hydrochlorothiazide, risperidone, glycopyrrolate, glaucoma medications, benztropine, or diabetes medicines in case you are using any of them. This drug is FDA pregnancy category C. It is not supposed to be taken by pregnant women without talking to the doctor first. If you take Topamax and think you may have become pregnant – do not stop taking it and consult your doctor. Stopping the treatment suddenly may cause seizure - and this is dangerous for both mother and baby. Such mild side effects as tingling, loss of appetite, numbness, sleep problems, dizziness, problems with balance, trouble concentrating, weight loss, headache, and memory problems are possible, but they will go away on their own pretty soon.
